Cost of Low Trust/Mistrust vs. Benefits of Trust, Matt and Jennifer Widmer
Matt and Jennifer teach us that we need to cultivate trust in others and cultivate trustworthiness in ourselves. Trustworthiness is being the same, every time, no matter what’s going on in your life. It’s the ability to be consistent. We need to acknowledge trust in God and work to trust him more, daily. We need to trust God to work through others in our lives.
They discuss how a climate of trust in the workplace encourages people to be more creative, willing to sacrifice, and be more productive. It creates a motivated, happy atmosphere. Low trust destroys motivation and is one cost of mistrust.
God wants us to work together to bring a vision to fruition, for that we need to build trust in each other. However, it’s okay not to trust people who have repeatedly hurt you.
Trust is like a forest, it takes a long time to grow, but can be burnt down in an instant. It can regrow, slowly, with an opportunity for redemption and repentance.
