The Garden

What is Sin??? To answer this we need to look back at the original sin…The Original Sin…Satan wanting to be worshipped.

Isaiah 14:12
-17
12 "How you have fallen from heaven, O star of the morning, son of the dawn! You have been cut down to the earth, You who have weakened the nations! 13 "But you said in your heart, 'I will ascend to heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God, And I will sit on the mount of assembly In the recesses of the north. 14 'I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.' 15 "Nevertheless you will be thrust down to Sheol, To the recesses of the pit. 16 "Those who see you will gaze at you, They will ponder over you, saying, 'Is this the man who made the earth tremble, Who shook kingdoms, 17 Who made the world like a wilderness And overthrew its cities, Who did not allow his prisoners to go home?

The original sin had to do with worship-it was an act of worshipping something/one other than God.

Why is worship so important? Why do we worship God? The word worship used until Gen 22:5 as Abram is taking Isaac to be sacrificed on the altar…

Genesis 22:5
Abraham said to his young men, "Stay here with the donkey, and I and the lad will go over there; and we will worship and return to you."

Worship–shachah (Sha–hha)–to bow down. The definition is helpful, but when you add the context of the story, you begin to understand the depth of the word. Abraham was choosing to bow down, to trust God, in the midst of a gut wrenching scenario. So what & who cares, why to we bow down? Because He is Good–Abraham chose to bow down, because he knew that he could trust in God’s goodness!

Psalms 9:1-2 TPT
I will worship you, Yahweh, with extended hands as my whole heart erupts with praise! I will tell everyone everywhere about your wonderful works! I will be glad and shout in triumph. I will sing praise to your exalted name, O Most High.

Psalm 86:9-10
9 All nations whom You have made shall come and worship before You, O Lord, And they shall glorify Your name. 10 For You
are great and do wondrous deeds; You alone are God.

Understand also that when we talk about self-worship or doing things our own way, we are not talking about your own unique, individual expression…God loves that! He placed that in you and wants you to be free to express that. However, because He is the author of our uniqueness, there is no better place to learn about ourselves and what we are capable of than from Him…it’s like superman, he went to his father in the fortress of solitude to learn about his capabilities, but was then released to let them be expressed in a manner of his choosing…
