Sweet Spot, by Senior Pastor Fred Garcia

Sweet Spot

Our goal is the upward call. What is the upward call? I believe it is simply this, doing what you are called to do in the manner in which you are called to do it. Working in God’s purpose for our lives, doing what He intended for us and how He intended, we find our sweet spot in life.

Philippians 3:13-16 13  Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, 14  I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. 15  Let us therefore, as many as are perfect, have this attitude; and if in anything you have a different attitude, God will reveal that also to you; 16  however, let us keep living by that same standard to which we have attained.
  1. There’s way you should go
    • Pro 22:6 raise up a child in the way they should go
      • You’re parents are called to steward it and help prepare you for it…
      • We know that it coincides with God’s purposes
        1. Romans 8:28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
      • We know that there is grace for it…
        1. 2 Timothy 1:9 who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was granted us in Christ Jesus from all eternity,
      • We know that our calling is irrevocable
        1. Romans 11:29 for the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.
        2. If you are saying to yourself, “I don’t want to have to do ‘this’ the rest of my life” than there is likely one of 2 things going on
          1. You haven’t found your calling
          2. Or you haven’t found your sweet spot

When we make Jesus Lord of our lives, born again, the new creation we become is perfect, it is holy, it is righteous.. And yet we are told to work out our salvation with fear and trembling…

Paul isn’t saying you need to work for your salvation, but he is saying that now that you’ve been put here, you need to choose to stay here….
